Some benefits that come with being a vegetarian are that you contribute less to greenhouse gasses and help the environment as a whole. You do this by eliminating red meat, poultry, and seafood from your diet, which produces fewer greenhouse gasses than those foods (Environmental Working Group). As well as helping the environment, you also save little bits of it every time you eat vegetables or fruits! Just think about all those fields of cows you aren’t helping create. I know that’s probably not what you want to think about when trying to eat dinner, but it does bring up an important point – if everyone were to go vegetarian, think of the difference we could make!

Many people choose to become vegetarian for health benefits. Some benefits that have been seen are lower blood pressure, lower cholesterol levels, and a decrease in heart disease (PETA). There are many other benefits that come with being a vegetarian as well; some include weight loss, less bloating, and more energy. All of these benefits are wonderful reasons to make the switch!

Vegetarian meals can be cheaper than meat-based meals. When you cook at home, you can create a delicious and nutritious vegetarian meal for much less than you would spend on a meat-based dish. If you’re looking to save money on groceries, becoming a vegetarian may be the way to go.

Less Chance of Food Poisoning

One other benefit that comes with being a vegetarian is less chance of food poisoning. This can be attributed to the benefits listed above, such as less bloating and avoiding heavy meats, which take longer to digest, leaving less time for bacteria to develop in them before you have flushed it out of your system (The Vegetarian Resource Group).

Being a vegetarian doesn’t have to be hard. If you’re not sure where to start or how you will survive without meat dishes, there are countless recipes available online for you! You can also try eating only one meatless meal per day at first if you are having trouble getting started. However, once you get used to this new lifestyle, you’ll find that it is much easier than that! The benefits of being a vegetarian are plentiful.
